Two Editing Businesses
Medical and Scientific Editing
Using his background in medicine and science, Mark Henderson provides language editing services for authors of scientific and medical articles whose first language is not English. He has more than twenty years’ experience in this business.
His commissions during 2023 and 2024 have included several chapters for the forthcoming new edition of Gray’s Anatomy.

Literary editing
Mark uses his experience as a writer and a creative writing tutor to edit fiction manuscripts and biographies, helping the authors to polish their work so it can be submitted to a publisher.
One example of his work in this area is Lorraine White’s autobiography, published by Stairwell Books in 2020.
In July 2024, three other books he’d edited were under consideration by different publishers: one an autobiography, one a collection of fantasy stories addressing the question “Why do oral tales matter?’ and the other a historical fiction novella aimed at young adult readers.
Another work that he’s edited, a fictionalised autobiography providing a vivid insight into life on a Peak District hill farm during the late 1950s and early ‘60s, is due to be submitted to a publisher in September 2024.
In each of these cases, once the author was satisfied with the editing, Mark put her in touch with the publisher.
